Psychodynamic Counselling
About me
Do you feel at war with yourself—torn between wanting more and fearing you don’t deserve it?

My name is Jamie, I am a Psychodynamic counsellor based in Leicester working in private practice, offering a space for deep reflection and self-discovery in person and online. I trained and worked at the Leicester Psychodynamic Counselling Centre, where I support clients and have assisted in training students.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, exploring how unconscious early patterns form our inner world and relationships. Through my training and personal exploration, I’ve come to understand the many ways our past shapes our sense of self. There are parts of ourselves outside our awareness—parts that get in our way of our growth and well-being.
Inner divisions cause emotional conflicts that spill out into our daily lives and influence our thoughts, feelings, physical well-being and relationships.

I am especially interested in how guilt can arise when we long for more. A part of you may block or punish you for yearning after unmet needs. You may find yourself in patterns that prevent you from living fully, such as procrastination, self-criticism, forgetfulness, envy of others and sabotaging opportunities and relationships. You may also punish yourself through dread of being judged, self-harm and worrying about burdening someone—even when, deep down, you know you’ve done no wrong.

As an accredited member of the BACP (MBACP Accred), I meet the highest standards of training, experience, and ethical practice. I provide a professional, confidential therapy space grounded in the BACP Ethical Framework. This means I aim to create a safe, confidential space where you can slow down, reflect and be heard. With this space, we are free to explore these dynamics to gain insight, emotional attunement and move toward greater wholeness, with empathy and without judgement.

Therapy is a collaborative process and I aim to walk alongside you with curiosity and care.

My fee is £50 for a 50-minute session, held weekly.

To ensure safe and effective therapy, I work with adult clients experiencing emotional conflicts suited to psychodynamic exploration.
I’m not equipped to support those in active psychosis, substance dependency, or under 18, nor do I offer couples or group therapy.
